You've probably heard the saying, ‘never wake a You've probably heard the saying, ‘never wake a sleeping baby,’ but there are times when you may need to! ☝️

Babies don’t have the same sleep cycles as adults, and they don't always know the right time to wake up, eat, or go to bed. As they develop, they will learn to tell the difference between night and day, which will, in turn, help you to establish a good sleep routine.

Until then, you will need to learn how to gently and successfully wake up your little one from a nap. This is where WeeSleep comes in! 💤 Our team of highly trained Sleep Consultants has put together tips and advice for gently waking your baby or toddler from a nap.

Swipe through, save this post, and send it to a friend who's new to parenting. 🤍

If you (or someone you know) are following these tips and still struggling with getting their baby into a healthy sleep routine, we'd love to help.

Check out how WeeSleep Consultant @weesleep_Lauraw set up her four-year-old’s room to help achieve sleep success!⁣
⁣
🛏️ Use bed rails to keep your little one safe throughout the night.⁣
⁣
👚 Place their PJs in the top drawer for easy access and allow your toddler to be a part of the night routine, letting them choose their own PJs for the night.⁣
⁣
📖 Keep a stack of books close by for story time before bed, which will help your little one wind down and notifies them that it’s time to sleep.⁣
⁣
🌊 Turn on the white noise machine. Make sure you have covered or taped over any lights on the white noise machine, as the lights may disrupt your little one’s sleep.⁣
⁣
⏰ Place a digital clock or GRO Clock in their room to help them tell the time and know when it’s time to go to bed or wake up.⁣
⁣
🪑 Place a stool beside their bed, which will help them climb easily into their bed.⁣
⁣
🌙 Last but not least, close the blinds. Whether you have regular or blackout blinds, close them to block any sunlight. ⁣
⁣
Now your toddler is ready for a great night’s sleep!⁣

Thumb-sucking... yes 👍 or no 👎 ? Let's tal Thumb-sucking... yes 👍 or no 👎 ?

Let's talk about it!

Thumb-sucking can be a great way for babies to self-soothe, as they have natural rooting and sucking reflexes. At WeeSleep, we neither encourage nor discourage it for sleep purposes, as it is really up to the baby!

Some parents are concerned their baby may become a thumb sucker if they no longer have a pacifier. Most babies do not start thumb-sucking in replacement of a pacifier; if they do, it can still be a great way to soothe. 🤍

When your little one is older, thumb-sucking may impact development, and you'll eventually want to teach them to find other ways to settle.

⁣
The key takeaway? ➡️ Start implementing routines. Little ones thrive when they have consistency!⁣
⁣
Start with a short, 5-minute nap routine (a quick diaper change, story and a song, and lights out); doing the same activities in the same order will help your baby know what will come next.⁣
